Block Mottle Makore

Quarter'd Figured Makore

Plain Makore
| Makore is commonly found in West Africa, and sometimes is referred to as "African Cherry," Baku, "Cherry Mahogany." It is normally a light pink to a deep red color. Some cuts can produce a very nice figure, or a flashy block mottle design. Straight-grained stripes are also common in some logs, which are similar to that of African Mahogany. Makore is fairly easy to work with and is popular for architectural woodwork. |
