Bubinga originates from West Africa and carries many of the characteristics of Rosewood, sometimes referred to as "African Rosewood". The heartwood is a dark almost violet like color and the fine growth lines are hard and contrast nicely. Despite its hardness, the wood is easy to work with. Bubinga is in high demand for architectural design and woodwork. When Bubinga is plain sliced it develops a character known as Kewazinga.
