| There are many species of Birch that is grown across Europe, North America, and Eastern Asia. Requested the most are the species from Canada and the U.S. Yellow Birch derives from Canada and is a cream to light brown color with a tint of redness and a white sapwood. Sweet Birch originates from the United Sates and sometimes is referred to as Black Birch or Cherry Birch. It is usually brown tinged with red and contains light brown or yellow sapwood. All species are hard, strong, and close-grained. The sapwood of rotary cut Birch can be sold as "White Birch" when selected , and the heartwood can be sold as "Red Birch" when selected. The veneer is often used for door faces, cabinets, and decorative panels. |
