Ash is usually referred to as White Ash, it is the most common species of Ash, and originates from the United States. It can have a light to dark reddish brown heartwood with wide lighter colored sapwood. The grains are usually open and moderately straight. Ash is hard and strong and has above average bending qualities. The veneer is used in furniture making, and the lumber is commonly used to make baseball bats.
